The Hon Josh Frydenberg MP, Treasurer of AustraliaThe Hon Josh Frydenberg MP was elected to the Australian Parliament in 2010 as the Member for Kooyong. He is the seventh person since Federation to hold this seat. In August 2018, he was appointed Treasurer, having previously served as Minister for the Environment and Energy, the Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia, Assistant Treasurer and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister since the 2013 election.
With a background in law as a barrister and solicitor for the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Treasurer began his career in Canberra as a ministerial adviser. During his time in parliament, Mr Frydenberg has been appointed to a number of committees and working groups including the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit, the Joint Select Committee on Gambling Reform and the Coalition’s Productivity Priorities Working Group.
