Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s visit to Paris
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was in Europe and the UK earlier this month to attend the G7 summit in England. During his visit, Prime Minister Morrison travelled to Paris to meet French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders discussed matters including France and Australia’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region and the Australian Government’s $90 billion submarine contract with French company Naval Group.
While in Paris, Prime Minister Morrison took part in a special session of the OECD Council which also coincided with the 50th anniversary celebrations of Australia’s accession to the OECD. The OECD has recently appointed former Australian Minister of Finance Mathias Cormann as its new Secretary-General. This will be the first time the international organisation has been led by an individual from the Asia-Pacific region.
