Join the AFBA Team – Manager and Operations Officer

The Australia France Business Association (AFBA) is a not-for-profit membership-based association connecting the business community and professionals with interests in both Australia and France. Composed of corporate, business and individual members, AFBA helps strengthen business links between Australia and France through events, membership services and strategic initiatives.

AFBA is looking for a part-time Manager and Operations Officer to join the association. The ideal candidate will play an important part in the development and growth of AFBA, combining excellent management, organisational and communication skills, strong administrative capabilities, and intercultural awareness.

Principal Activities:

Planning and Organisation of Events

Managing events from start to finish in all regards (finding venues, liaising with speakers, identifying appropriate sponsors, managing budgets, designing and sending invitations and managing replies, preparing run orders, speaking notes and other various documents for events). Attendance is required at all events.

Membership

Fostering relations with members, managing the annual membership renewal process, monitoring registrations and payments of new members and finding and contacting prospective members.

Communication

Managing all internal and external communications: drafting and developing content for the AFBA website, social media accounts (LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook) and newsletter.

Administration

Tracking of expenditures and receipts, issuing invoices, reconciling bank statements with monthly accounts and other ad hoc administrative duties.

Board and Bureau Meetings

Liaising with the Bureau and Board, organising Bureau and Board meetings (preparing agendas and taking minutes) and organising the annual AGM. Attendance is required at meetings.

Other

Liaising with the Australian Embassy in Paris, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Australian state trade and investment offices. Fostering relations and exchanges with the ABIE European network and other chambers of commerce, business councils and associations. Keeping up to date on French-Australian business relations and trade and investment opportunities.

Profile sought:

  • University graduate
  • Bilingual in English and French (both written and spoken)
  • Previous experience in event and project management
  • Able to work independently and very self-motivated
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive)
  • Experience with CRM software, website design (ideally via WordPress), Zoom and social media content
  • Motivated to work for a “not-for-profit” organisation

Part-time: 3 days a week (flexible). Suited for someone working as a freelancer/auto-entrepreneur

Location: Paris (home-based)

Remuneration: Confidential, but competitive. The fees (daily rate) will be discussed with the appropriate candidate

Start date: The candidate has to be (almost) immediately available
