Victoria is currently in a transport construction boom with infrastructure investment averaging $21.3 billion a year – that’s more than four times the average on previous years. To meet its growing population Victoria is delivering major projects including the North East Link, the Airport Rail Link, and the Suburban Rail Loop, Australia’s largest-ever infrastructure project.

Hear about the opportunities for foreign companies to get involved in the current infrastructure and energy pipeline for Victoria, and how the government is working to meet the growing challenge of climate change, through its legislated commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

SPEAKER

Hon. Tim Pallas MP  l  Treasurer for Victoria, Minister for Economic Development, Industrial Relations

Tim Pallas is the Treasurer of Victoria, Minister for Economic Development and Minister for Industrial Relations. He was elected to the Victorian Parliament in 2006 as the member for the seat of Werribee, in Melbourne’s west.

Mr Pallas delivered his 8th State Budget for the Andrews Labor Government in May. His 2022/23 State Budget targets pandemic repair. It puts patients first, with a $12 billion investment in Victoria’s hospitals, healthcare, and healthcare workers. Throughout the pandemic, Mr Pallas in his role as Treasurer directed powerfully effective measures to support the state through crisis, with more than $44 billion to protect jobs and businesses.

Tim Pallas’s first budget, in 2015, delivered the biggest education budget, and investment in public transport, in the State’s history. His second, in 2016, included the single biggest school capital investment in Victoria’s history, and the new Metro Tunnel. His third, in 2017, committed an unprecedented $1.9 billion to address the devastation of family violence. His 2018/19 Budget focused on job growth, investment in major projects and Free TAFE. His 2019/20 Budget delivered a suburban transport blitz, universal three-year-old kinder, and investment in solar homes. His 2020/21 Budget invested an unprecedented $49 billion to rebuild and keep Victorians at the heart of pandemic recovery, supporting massive jobs growth and much-needed infrastructure.
